FALL 2008 NEWSLETTER "It comes from the heart...may it go to the heart." Ludwig van
Beethoven
I hope all of you had a very relaxing and enjoyable summer. I also hope all of
you are enjoying excellent health. My wife and I had a great time spending 3
weeks in the South, attending a family reunion (my side of the family) in
Birmingham, Alabama followed by visits to friends in Mississippi and Georgia.I remain committed to optimal health for myself and for others.
I continue to present talks and seminars regarding effective, non-punitive
parenting strategies. Two years ago, however, I became a distributor for a
healthy food product known as JuicePlus. As a result, I am now able to help
individuals (children and adults) achieve far greater improvements in their
nutrition and health than previously possible. Starting the
October 1, 2008 and monthly thereafter, I will be sending out an e-mail discussing
a variety of health-related topics, including parenting, child-teen behavior
problems, stress reduction, the latest in Vitamin D research and, of
course, nutritional issues. I heard at a recent conference that
"to eat a healthy diet in America is to behave abnormally." I believe this
statement applies not only to America but to Canada and increasingly to other
industrialized nations of the world as more and more people eat increased
amounts of fast food and processed foods and less and less whole
food, particularly in the form of fresh, raw fruits, vegetables, berries, nuts and
seeds.Thousands of new food products are introduced into our
grocery stores every year. Most of these "foods", however, would not be
recognizable as food by our grandparents and great-grandparents. The current
epidemic of chronic disease in the U.S. and most industrialized nations such as arthritis, osteoporosis, asthma, obesity, diabetes, hypertension, heart
disease, strokes, dementia and Alzheimer's, are by most experts to be due, largely
or in part, to poor nutrition. We need to return to eating, as much as
possible, real, whole food and increased amount of fresh, raw vegetables, fruits and
berries in order to dramatically decrease the incidence of chronic
disease (including cancer) and to become healthier. There is an urgent need to
embrace what Hippocrates, the father of Western medicine, who said over two
thousand years ago,"Let medicine be thy food, and food be thy medicine."This is why I am so excited about JuicePlus. It is not a vitamin or
a supplement but is actually whole plant derived food in capsules, chewable tabs
and gummies. JuicePlus is not intended to substitute for raw fruits, vegetables
and berries but to serve as an insurance policy to fill some of the deficits in
most of our modern diets in terms of providing more critically needed plant-based
nutrients. The current recommendation for optimal health is to eat 9-13 servings
of fresh, raw fruits, vegetables and berries everyday. JuicePLus helps to achieve
this goal.JuicePlus is the most scientifically studied and
researched product of its kind in history. The data from numerous, vigorous
scientific studies around the world are impressive and compelling. And every
person can benefit from taking JuicePlus--from world class Olympic athletes, to
those who consider themselves fairly healthy and fit, to the overwweight, out of
shape "couch potatoes". I encourage all of you to listen to a FREE Phone Seminar by Candace Corson, M.D. I am convinced that you will be compelled to call
all of your friends and relatives after listening to this incredible talk. This
talk lasts about 40 minutes but what you hear, if acted upon, could very well
change the rest of your life. Candace is a family physician and married mother
of 4 kids. Simply call 1-641-715-3412 and the access code is 684549. But you
must call by September 15, 2008 as the talk will be changed to another speaker. For additional info, visit www.carliveymd.com and follow the links to JuicePlus to explore a variety of information including leads to published scientific studies in
reputable medical journals. And if you need more info, there is available a
JuicePlus 24-hour info line (1-800-942-1260) where you can obtain continuous news
updates about JuicePlus and health and nutrition in general. It
is past time that we begin to "behave abnormally" in order to eat better in
order to achieve and maintain better health while at the same time preventing
premature illness and disease. I invite you to send your comments
and questions regarding nutrtion, parenting and any other issues of concern to docivey@carliveymd.com. I will do
my best to respond to each of them.
I wish all of you the best
of health. Sincerely, Carl L. Ivey, M.D
